September 23, 2010 Let the Little children come to Me. Mark 10:14

Kisumu Pastors and Womens Conference-Day 1

The team arrived at Pastor Hesborne Apida's church to find the men and women assembled under the white tents and ready to learn Gods words. There were about 60 women and 50 men in attendance today.

It was a beautiful, sunny and humid day in Kisumu. When we got to the gate of the courtyard, the women were eager to learn the Word. Many of the men and women are friends with the returning mission team members. It was like being welcomed home! The men and women broke into two groups each. Peyton Joyner taught Ephesians. Allen Gayle and Howard Satterfield taught Genesis. Bill Howard taught the book of John. Mimi Brummitt taught spiritual blessings and The women at the well. Lena Reyes taught Proverb 31. Linda Tyler and Mardie Gibbs told their testimonies and talked about prayer. We experienced the joy of the fruit of the spirit.

Ashley and Taylor Hemphill, who are on their first foreign mission trip, came as Childrens bible teachers. Pastor Hesborne had arranged for them to visit a school with in walking distance of the conference. The children were six years old and younger and they taught about Daniel and the Lion. Ashley and Taylor used visuals to show the story and the children listened with big eyes! They sang and prayed at the end of the lesson.

Several of the team members walked to the school to observe and were totally charmed by these precious little faces. When we got in there, all the children came to see us and had time to talk and ask questions.

Lena said "In my heart, I remember what Jesus Christ said :' Let the little children come to Me", Mark 10:14. And I can see the picture of Jesus Christ with them, and loving them. My heart was filling with so much joy! And I can not have words to tell."

We had the opportunity to talk and hug, and give our love. Children are looking for love, care and comfort. Children in Kenya are very precious!

Lena said "When I am leaving Kenya, I know that my heart will be there. because they have something so special, that is hard to find somewhere. Is only the joy that they give to us. I love them so very much! I am already sad to leave."

It was a Spirit filled day in Kisumu! Amen.
